The Boundless Bible
The Boundless Bible is a podcast dedicated to discussing the many layers and perspectives the Bible offers to those interested in deepening their views and understanding.
Hosted by three friends from very different walks of life and life experiences, who've come together through curiosity of, and respect for, the living Word.
Our hosts are:
- DAVID SHAPIRO -- was born an Orthodox Jew, later an atheist, ex-military and MMA fighter, David heeded the call to Jesus and is now an ordained Pastor, specializing in Apologetics.
- JAVIER MARQUEZ -- Originally from Brooklyn, moved to LA to be an actor, and deeply found the Lord which led him to work in the church, lead Bible studies and grow his faith.
- JASON HOLLOWAY -- grew up in the church, left in college, and spent the next 2 decades immersed in learning world religion, spirituality, science, and mythology, recently returning to the Faith with renewed insight and perspective.
After a year of weekly discussions, we came to find that sharing and debating their different perspectives had become an exciting way to introduce new ideas to old thinking, grow their understanding, and strengthen their faith.
We are aware that there are many people out there who feel their questions haven't been answered, whose curiosity has been tamped down, or who just generally feel their community doesn't allow open dialogue, and our goal is to give those people a place to listen, ask questions, and engage with their curiosity to find a deeper and more robust connection to their faith.

QUICK Qs: Who Is The Most Underrated Bible Character?
David, Javi, and Jason explore what they consider the most underrated characters in the Bible, sharing personal insights about overlooked figures whose brief appearances carry profound theological significance.
• David selects Simeon, the righteous man at the temple who recognized baby Jesus as the Messiah and understood His mission would reach both Jews and Gentiles
• Javi chooses Joseph, highlighting his exceptional faith in accepting Mary's pregnancy and the immense pressure of raising Jesus despite not being His biological father
• Jason champions "Doubting Thomas," arguing his skepticism was actually brave honesty that led to profound faith
• The group discusses how Thomas deserves a "rebrand" from his negative nickname to something that recognizes his courage
• All three characters demonstrate different aspects of faith: prophetic insight, faithful obedience, and honest questioning

quick questions with david. We are back with another quick questions from david and some background singing by hobby. Thank you very much, uh, so what is our question?
David:this week david. The question this week is what is the most underrated character in the bible in your standards? The most underrated?
Jason:character. David, you get to go first.
David:I'll go first. I'll go first, and mine was Simeon, and Simeon was a righteous man at the temple at the time that Jesus was dedicated to the temple as a baby, and the reason he's underrated.
David:Yeah, the reason to me he's underrated is this is a man who the holy spirit told him that he would still be alive to meet the messiah, and that he would be able to to he'd be reaching out to the gentiles and the jews, so he's the first one to know that jesus was coming and to know that he was going to be preaching to Gentiles and Jews. That, to me, he's one of the most underrated characters. I would love to see a lot more about him. His life it leaves me just wanting to know more about him.
Jason:That's a B-side right there. You went for a deep cut. You went for the deep cut.
Javi:Wait, is that the guy? No, it's Simon, the one that walked with Jesus to the road to the cross, that helped him lift the cross.
Jason:No, no, no, no, no, but that's a good one, javi, you're going to pick that one. That's a good one. Well, he was the Ethiopian guy, right? Yeah, is the one you're talking about. I don't remember his name, though. Oh, that's bad. We don't remember his name, though. Okay.
David:Yeah, simeon was. This is. Jesus is still a baby at this point, so this is not. Yeah, this was not at his crucifixion, this was at his birth. This is when he was first dedicated to the temple.
Jason:I know what you're picking now, Javi, though.
Javi:No, when. When he said that, I first thought about that. I was like wait, that's awesome, david, so many names crossed my mind. I'm going to go with Joseph.
David:Mary and Joseph, I think.
Javi:Joseph doesn't get enough credit to the story of Jesus, and just kind of raising Jesus I mean, can you imagine he didn't give birth to Jesus, he wasn't, you know, but his faith and going through with the marriage and continue on with Mary, I think is something to to applaud and just kind of give you know grace to and just kind of understand that he was at difficult roads at many times and to be able to raise Jesus the way he did, and just kind of being there, I think it's something to witness and kind of see you know he's definitely underrated.
Jason:Yeah, I agree with that. That's a good one. I mean, what kind of person do you have to be to in order to raise the son of God? Like you, you have to know that he was of exceptional quality human. Just just because that, I mean that that's a good one. I like that.
David:The pressure of raising.
Jason:The pressure, the pressure as you imagine.
David:Yeah, what about you, Jason? What's your? What's your?
Jason:character. So yeah, look, I've said it before, I'm a huge fan of Doubting Thomas.
David:I'm a huge fan you know there's not a whole lot about.
Jason:Doubting. There's not a huge fan. There's not a lot written about him. I know his name was Didymus, wasn't he Didymus? Is that right?
Jason:He was Didymus, he did great things out afterwards to do a whole lot of great things too. And, like you know, people don't talk about his missions afterwards, they don't. I think it was Indio's his big thing, right, but I which I think is amazing, but I mean the you take that with who he was before and you take it with the why he's called Doubting Thomas. Because he walked in, he saw Jesus and he said how can I be sure that's you? And like, just that moment for me is one of those, such an important moment of like he saw him and had a hard time believing, and so, like if he had that, like I shouldn't worry about my doubts, I shouldn't worry about the days where I'm lying in bed, going questioning things for the sake of questioning them, Just for the sake of being a human who questions things and gets skeptical about stuff.
Jason:Like if he was able to be that doubtful when he was literally staring him in the face, um, and still go on to do the things he would do in india beyond that and and who else knows what he did? Who knows what else he did over the? I guess there's probably writings about it. I haven't read yet, but, um, you know what? What an important character and yet you know he's kind of relegated to most services as that guy who wanted to touch the scars. You know it's like so yeah, that's my that's my underrated character.
David:And how brave for the payoff. Listen, he's the only one to touch the holes in jesus's hand, and he had the courage not only to doubt, he had the courage to say I doubt you, um, which I think jesus calls us to do. If you were doubting, he said I'm big enough to handle that, let's talk, yeah, and? And the payoff was not only. He got to touch the holes in Jesus's hand and went further than any other disciple. Talk about taking you know, whatever somebody calls on you. I mean, his title is Doubting Thomas. Take that off his name, cause man he got a bad nickname, didn't he?
Jason:Yeah, he did, yeah, yeah, he could have been faithful, thomas right we're gonna call him all kinds of stuff, but brave, let's, let's do that. I think that guy needs a rebrand. So all right, guys. Thank you, uh, as always, for your time. This was super fun, as always, and we look forward to the next questions next week. Talk to you then. Thanks bye, see you guys.
