The Boundless Bible
The Boundless Bible is a podcast dedicated to discussing the many layers and perspectives the Bible offers to those interested in deepening their views and understanding.
Hosted by three friends from very different walks of life and life experiences, who've come together through curiosity of, and respect for, the living Word.
Our hosts are:
- DAVID SHAPIRO -- was born an Orthodox Jew, later an atheist, ex-military and MMA fighter, David heeded the call to Jesus and is now an ordained Pastor, specializing in Apologetics.
- JAVIER MARQUEZ -- Originally from Brooklyn, moved to LA to be an actor, and deeply found the Lord which led him to work in the church, lead Bible studies and grow his faith.
- JASON HOLLOWAY -- grew up in the church, left in college, and spent the next 2 decades immersed in learning world religion, spirituality, science, and mythology, recently returning to the Faith with renewed insight and perspective.
After a year of weekly discussions, we came to find that sharing and debating their different perspectives had become an exciting way to introduce new ideas to old thinking, grow their understanding, and strengthen their faith.
We are aware that there are many people out there who feel their questions haven't been answered, whose curiosity has been tamped down, or who just generally feel their community doesn't allow open dialogue, and our goal is to give those people a place to listen, ask questions, and engage with their curiosity to find a deeper and more robust connection to their faith.

• Javi cautions against judging someone based on glimpses rather than knowing them fully
• Jason reflects on how different people perceive him—those from his past see transformation
• Jason acknowledges his intimidating physical presence contrasts with his gentle, servant heart
• The hosts affirm each other's unique ways of reflecting Christ
• All agree on the distinction between being light and merely reflecting it

Welcome to the Boundless Bible. My name is David Shapiro. Hey, I'm Javi.
Jason:Marquez and I'm Jason Holloway. Quick questions with David here again for our favorite question time to get to know a little bit more about you guys. Let's have it, let's hear it.
David:Question man Question If someone judged Christianity by your daily life, what would they see?
Javi:Hmm, man, that's good. That's a tough question.
Jason:I'll tell you what they would see versus what I hope they see. Okay, that's good. I hope they see somebody who is trying. I hope they see I know this. I know that they'll see somebody who's changed significantly. They won't see somebody who's perfect right. They won't see somebody who's got it all together. They won't see somebody who is a hundred percent on it all the time. They're still going to be some see somebody who's anxious, somebody who's, uh, you know, a little bit overly excited often.
Jason:Yeah, Um, you know, there's plenty of things that I could, I could judge myself for, but I, but I hope that they see that there would be a faithfulness in all of it, that I'm trying to get better, that I'm trying to do better, that I'm trying to be better, to be, uh, you know, more kind, more helpful, and I think, I mean I think that that has been the fruit of the spirit that you know, the fruits that I've seen from coming back to the faith, but I, I, I would never hope that people saw perfection. I would hope that they see the intent.
Javi:That's good, yeah, that's really good. I think, for me, what, what I hope they will see, is a person that's passionate, that's that loves God, that wants to continue to learn and really do good, and do good to others. Um, I feel like it's hard to think about this question because I think about people that are close to me. I think about people that pass by me through like my daily life yeah, right, but there's also people that I do life with on a weekly basis, right Through church and all that stuff. So, yeah, I think they will see a person that's just passionate.
Javi:I'm a very passionate person, so when I speak, I could be either loud, I could be very quiet, but I could be very intense, and I think that's what they will see. So a person that's maybe at times, maybe opinionated, or maybe just really, really strong in what they feel, they believe, and they could come out wrong sometimes. One thing I do want to say is, whatever they do see from anyone is they only see in a glimpse, and not to judge somebody from their glimpse of what they do see, you know.
Javi:And I guess we're talking about somebody that passes by, but I also think about Jesus, and what Jesus wants us to do is to continue to seek him, to do good so we could live a daily life. That's good. So when people do see us, they see light, they see Jesus.
Jason:Yeah, we need to reflect it, right, right, yeah. And again, I think it's important that they see that there's a difference between reflecting light and being light. I'm not always going to be a pure light, but at least I'm trying to reflect it.
David:Yeah, amen, that's good For me. For me, it depends on who so you have. You have the person who knows me from beforehand. Yeah, yeah, and I think what they see is they will see somebody who grew up illiterate, um, who is now, you know, an author of books and doing a podcast and and about, to you know, complete my doctorate and I think you know you have something like that where they look and they go.
David:How is this even possible? This kid didn't care about school at all and you know you have somebody who knew me in the past. I said but then you have people who, uh, probably just passed me in the street and one of the things I laugh about all the time my kids tell me is you know, everybody who meets me is afraid of me. You know, I'm six, three, almost 300 pounds. I'm a big scary guy.
David:Yeah, um, I'm the kind of guy who you're gonna cross the street away from if you're crossing, yeah and I think when people meet me and they go, wow, this guy's actually really loving and gentle and loves to serve, I just think that once they meet me, that's what's being reflected. Is that you know, they know that I'm a Christian by how I act and mine is servitude. I just want to be a servant. I totally agree with that from from from somebody who met you? Yeah.
Jason:Yeah, I mean, look, I mean you're, you're, you're. I've said it before you're David in the body of Goliath. That's so good, you know. And it's like you know. Your first glance is like, oh, that dude's big, he's scary, and then you're, but your kindness is undeniable, I mean, and it's immediate, like the, the immediate even when I tell you people about you. I don't want to like dote on you here, but I, you know, heard stories of you know somebody needing something and like you grabbed the Christmas tree before it was even for the person that even finished, and like put it on top of their car because they didn't have a Christmas tree. And it's like you know that it that I hope a lot of people are seeing Christianity through your reflection.
Javi:Yeah, they can look past the beard and the tattoos and the fact that you were MMA fighter and you could break them in half.
Jason:Yeah, yeah, you're making me scared right now. I hope they can pass this they can look past it Hopefully it's reflecting the right thing.
Jason:Yeah, yeah, but no, I mean, look, I think it's. It's such a fascinating question because it keeps you on your toes right, like if, if we are supposed to be the reflection of Christ, how are we reflecting it? I mean, like I said, in your case it's definitely kindness and servitude. You know, I think in your case, javi, if I have to like look at you, I think it's, I think it's your, your faithful heart. You look at everybody the same way, I think. I think I've never seen you look at one person differently than another.
Jason:Everybody's a child of God and you look at that and I have no idea how I'm reflected, but you know I'm doing my best, guys. I think you're doing great.
David:Alright, guys.
Jason:Well, since, we're all doing great. We'll see you next week. Appreciate it Later. Bye.
